While fans are excitingly waiting for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" to arrive in theaters, there have bee new reports claiming that in addition to the upcoming superhero film there's actually a separate "Man of Steel" sequel film.
A rumor which is vehemently denied by director Zack Snyder.
In his interview with Canoe, the 49-year-old director said that as far as he is concerned, the only "Man of Steel" sequel he knows and concered about is "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"I think in a way 'Batman v Superman' is 'Man of Steel 2,'" he explained. "Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It'd be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be."
Instead of focusing his thoughts on making a "Man of Steel 2" movie, the "300" and "Watchmen" director is reportedly more focused on the upcoming "Justice League" movies, which he will also be directing.
"We really have to figure out the why of them," he explained of the entire Justice League cast. "And I think that we have. That's the one thing that's cool to me about 'Batman v Superman,' it's all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that's compelling."
Henry Cavill on the other hand, shares a completely different thought. For Superman, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie is no "Man of Steel" sequel.
Speaking with EW Cavill insisted that "Batman v Superman" is not a "Superman sequel."
"As far as the individual character is concerned, this is not a Superman sequel," he said of "Batman v Superman" being a sequel to "Man of Steel." "It's more of an introduction to Batman, an opening to Justice League, and an expansion of the world that was created in Man of Steel."
Furthernore, Henry Cavill is confident of DC and Warner Bros.' plans for the future Superman sequels, which he believes will come in the near future.
"There's plenty of time for individual Superman sequels," Cavill explained. "He's a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can't really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories."
And while many are still waiting for the official announcement, Henry Cavill is about to set foot again as Clark Kent a.k.a Superman in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" together with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
The film will also feature the appearances of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred J. Pennyworth, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.
Under Zack Snyder's direction "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
