Caitlyn Jenner's docu series "I Am Cait," which chronicles the former Oplympian's transition from being a man to being a woman and her advocacy for the transgender community, was reportedly renewed for Season 2 on E!
This was announced by the network on Thursday, Oct. 22.
"Caitlyn's story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before," said Jeff Olde, E!'s executive vice president of programming in a statement.
"We are honored Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing story with our viewers around the world," he added.
Caitlyn also shared the news to her Twitter followers on the same day.
"I'm looking forward to continuing the conversation. #IAmCait," Jenner wrote.
"I Am Cait" Season 1 had an overall positive feedback from critics, although some believe the show still has to find its identity.
"'I Am Cait' closed as it opened," TV Columnist Brian Lowry wrote for Variety. "With Jenner speaking directly into a small camera, confessing hopes and fears. 'I want to help people,' she said, and in terms of altering the conversation and perceptions regarding the transgender community, she clearly has,"
"It's only too bad that the series bearing her name, even with its strengths, struggled to find its identity," Lowry added.
During the first season of "I Am Cait," Caitlyn Jenner was seen struggling with her transition from the simplest things (doing her make-up and picking out her clothes as a woman for the first time) to the big things (presenting herself to her family as a woman).
Caitlyn had also interacted with different members of the LGBT community, particularly the transgender community in an attempt to open the audience's eyes to current issues faced by the said sector in the society today.
But it would seem that to critics like Lowry, the same plot would not be enough for "I Am Cait" to survive beyond Season 2.
How will the producers craft the show and find its "identity?" What will the main focus of the new season be? At this point, there's nothing Caitlyn Jenner's fans could do but wait.
