Tom Hiddleston's new film, "Crimson Peak," has been given an R-rating. If that wasn't an intriguing enough reason for fans of the "I Saw The Light" star, he will reportedly be revealing more than his acting skills in the new movie.
Late night show host Stephen Colbert asked the British actor if he indeed showed his "English countryside" during a sex scene for the film, to which director Guillermo Del Toro interjected that it was "fully [Hiddleston's] idea."
"I don't know how anybody else has sex, but as far as I understand it, if you keep your pants on, it's not gonna work," he cheekily replied to the talk show host.
In another interview, this time with Graham Norton, he shared his view on how men and women's sexual equality and nudity on film doesn't have equal footing.
"I was happy to do it," he said. "We discussed this often in this situations. The woman is more naked than the man and we thought we would just redress the balance."
Likewise, Bustle said that Tom Hiddleston's "Crimson Peak" sex scene became "so exciting" because "it's part of a new wave of sex scenes in movies - ones initiated by, led by, and controlled by women."
The article continued that Edith, played by Mia Wasikowska, controlled the scene by thinking about and eventually making up her mind to give her virginity to her new mysterious husband, Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston).
"The sex scene in 'Crimson Peak' is thoroughly about Edith's character - not just an excuse to show her breasts," the publication added. "With this film, the movement to decriminalize female sexuality on-screen is officially here."
Tom Hiddleston' further shared his view about nudity in "Crimson Peak" to E! News.
"It's so often in movies that women are more naked than men and I think that's unfair," he shared, adding that "it was really important for us that Edith was calling the shots, that she is the strongest character, she's a strong woman and she's going to dictate how that goes down."
