The latest "Gotham" season 2 episode probably had all Batman geeks rolling on the floor with happiness. A lot has been said about James Frain's character Theo Galavan. There were speculations he is Ra's al Ghul, the leader of the League of Assassins.
Turned out, he is not the immortal Batman nemesis but another epic, important part of the mythology of the Dark Knight. While talking to an old woman, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) learned that Galavans are part of the St. Dumas family line who were vanished out of Gotham City. St. Dumas and Bruce Wayne's family has a long and rich history with each other and this will be explored more this season.
Among the most popular members of this clan is Jean Paul Valley who for many occasions donned the Dark Knight's cape and cowl. With his family name's appearance in "Gotham" season 2, many fans can't help but ask if he will appear in the show. Executive producer John Stephens said there is more to come from this family and telling Azrael's story could be in the plan.
"We will be going deeper into the Order of St. Dumas over the next run of episodes, and it will continue to play an evolving role for the rest of the season," Stephens said in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. exclusively.
"And yes, we wouldn't be telling an Order of St. Dumas story without also intending to tell an Azrael story. Just keep watching."
St. Dumas family work as a force and enforce orders "on God's will." Its members are military-trained and possess great combat skills. They are known for their special "Suit of Sorrows" armor and use "Sword of Sin."
