"New Girl" has a new baby girl!
Zooey Deschanel proves once again that she is the queen of the adorkables as she revealed her baby daughter's name three months after giving birth and after secretly tying the knot with actor Jacob Pechenik.
In an interview with ET Online on Monday during the "Rock the Kasbah" New York premiere, the "New Girl" star revealed her daughter's quirky name - Elsie Otter (yes, as in Otter, the semi-aquatic animal).
"We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters, they're very sweet and they're also smart," Deschanel explained during her appearance on The Today Show on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
"They use tools... They hold hands while they sleep," Deschanel added. "There's so many amazing things about otters. They're wonderful animals,"
With this revelation, many Twitter users reacted negatively to what Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik decided to name their 3-month-old baby.

Meanwhile, another netizen said, "Apparently Zooey Deschanel named her baby 'Elsie Otter.' At this rate we're going to have an entire generation of weirdly named people."

Despite the negative comments on Zooey Deschanel's baby name, the actress remains true to herself and gushes about Elsie.
"Zooey was gushing about how in love with her daughter she was all night," said an insider for US Weekly.
As previously reported, the "500 Days of Summer" actress is currently on maternity leave, reason why she will not be appearing on the first few episodes of "New Girl" season 5.
While Deschanel is on leave, "Transformers" star, Megan Fox will be stepping in for her as a "gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft."
