While Guillermo del Toro has reportedly delayed the release date of "Pacific Rim 2," there are new reports about the sequel's casting development.

Apparently, the award winning director is now eyeing on "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams to be included in the lineup of the monster vs mech movie.

According to AV Club 18-year-old Williams and del Toro have met already with the director greatly impressed and interested to have the "Game of Thrones" actress casted.

VC Post added that the director had even tweeted about Maisie Williams' brilliance claiming how "remarkable" she is.

But while the devolepment of "Pacific Rim 2" is still on ice, del Toro gladly shared his thoughts about the sequel.

Talking to Happy Sad Confused as reported by Indiewire, the "Crimson Peak" director explained how he thinks of his movies.

"Even when you do a project as insane as 'Pacific Rim,' giant robots, giant monsters: I do it straight," he said of his attitude about making the film.

"I believe in giant robots, I believe in giant monsters, I'm not being ironic or post-modern. Same with Gothic romance, ['Crimson Peak'] has a heightened tone of melodrama and I went for broke."

But while he is determined to bring back "Pacific Rim 2" on the big screen, Guillermo del Toro did clarify that it's not going to be the next movie in his line up.

"It's certainly not my next movie," he revealed to the host. "With the push, I feel compelled to do something small and weird, because I need a breather and a little bit more madness in my life."

Furthermore, del Toro promised that "Pacific Rim 2" will be a blast, but he insisted on not giving away further details about the movie.

"I learned through the years, you wanna make God laugh? Tell him what your next movie is," the filmmaker said.

"I feel more and more inclined lately to do more and more strange stuff. Like doing stuff that is a little bit more cagey, a little bit more quirky," he explained.

He added that as of now, "Pacific Rim 2" is still in the early stages of development.

"In three weeks we are delivering a [new] budget and a schedule and a new draft of the screenplay," Guillermo del Toro said. "And then the studio knows how much it costs, what is it about and then they'll decide if they go ahead or not."
