Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama have been dating for almost five years now, but there were times that they had to take a break up due to personal reasons.
During an interview with Complex, the 23-year-old singer revealed their secret to a lasting relationship.
"The only times that we were off was when I was not in a healthy state of mind, or he was like: 'I can't be with you until you get sober. I can't enable what you're doing right now.'...So I did, and then that made our relationship so much stronger," she said.
There were rumors coming out that Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama are already engaged, but the "Really Don't Care" hitmaker claimed that she's not yet ready to get married. However, that does not mean that she isn't going to tie the knot in the future.
She even revealed her dream wedding to the magazine. "I love shabby chic [weddings]... I don't know if it would be in a barn, but I think I'd definitely want an outdoor wedding, with lights hanging in the trees," Lovato said.
"With Wilmer, I'm the happiest that I've ever been, so that's all that matters to me," she added. Demi also talked about babies and admitted that she's not yet ready to have her own child yet. "His [Wilmer's] parents are hilarious. His dad's always like, 'Make babies.' Like, 'Oh god. Not yet. Not any time soon,'" she confessed.
It is understandable why the actor's parents are excited to have a grandchild because Wilmer Valderrama is already 35-years-old, but he respects his girlfriend's decision.
During an interview with a New Zealand-based radio show, Demi Lovato expressed her feelings for her boyfriend. "I am very, very in love with him," she confessed. "I think we'll probably wait a little bit longer, but if he asked tomorrow, I'd say yes."
Mario Lopez of Extra asked the star of "From Dusk till Dawn" what his thoughts are about Demi's quote. "She's writing the future," Valderrama said. "I really think she's someone... that I hope... that it fits in our future. I mean, I'd be more than down. I love her so much."
