While there's no scheduled release date, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is confident that Disney is moving ahead with "Indiana Jones 5" movie.
"When it will happen, I'm not quite sure," Kennedy told Vanity Fair of the planned project. "We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."
And while there's no official statement yet, reports claim that Disney is actually eyeing on "Jurassic World" star Chris Pratt to replace Harrison Ford as the new Indy.
Cinema Blend reported that Pratt is the frontrunner to Disney's planned "Indiana Jones 5."
While Pratt remained coy about getting involved in the said project, there are also reports that Steven Spielberg is actually interested in getting on board.
According to Deadline the award winning director/producer is willing to get his hands in the project "assuming a script comes in to his satisfaction."
The publication noted that Spielberg's interest in getting involved with "Indiana Jones 5" is not surprising at all given that he directed the Harrison Ford "Indiana Jones" movie and even the latest Disney's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull" with the already aged Ford and Shia LaBeouf.
While Pratt is certainly not Harrison Ford, the publication said that his "ability to tackle strong, heroic roles with humor and relatable humanity" makes him as likable, therefore perfect for the role.
According to a source of Showbizspy "Disney is looking at its long-term options for the 'Indiana Jones' franchise. "They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies."
While Chris Pratt's involvement in "Indiana Jones 5" is growns rampant, Rolling Stone reported that Harrison Ford "hasn't ruled out returning to the 'Indiana Jones' franchise" yet.
Disney has yet to set a release date for the planned "Indiana Jones 5" given that everything is still in its early stages of development.
