NBA Trade Rumors: 'Necessary' Lakers-Bulls Swap Could Drop Soon?

| By

Brandon Bass has just arrived in Los Angeles Lakers but if the latest NBA trade rumors are true, Staples Center might not be his last stop.

NBA trade rumors are circulating around involving Los Angeles Lakesr and Chicago Bulls. According to the report, Lakers are lining up a deal with Bulls involving Bass and Taj Gibson.

"Chat Sports' Brian Rauf first brought out the idea of a trade involving these two undersized power forwards," Yibada wrote.

"It was reported that the Lakers had interest over Gibson for a couple of years now, but there were no opportunities for the team to really seek him out."

Gibson, who returned to fitness and played for Chicago Bulls pre-season game a few days ago, is reportedly unhappy with what's going in his team. It is believed he fell out of favor in the team which already has serviceable big men - two All-Stars Joachim Noah and Pau Gasol and improving Nikola Mirotic.

On the other hand, Lakers are looking for a first-five calibre power forward who at the same time can energize the bench. Coach Byron Scott is even thinking of playing 38-year old Kobe Bryant to play more PF because of the lack of player who can guard big men of the opponents.

There is a lot going on in the Chicago Bulls line up today. This is also the same reason why they are linked in a lot of NBA trade rumors lately. There is Derrick Rose's injury, his alleged feud with Jimmy Butler, and new coach.

Basket Bulls Blog, Chicago team's fan site, also spoke about Taj Gibson and why or not should he get traded.

"So, if Taj is such a great team player who produces at a high level for a minimal dollar amount, why trade him? Supply and demand. The Bulls had too many good big men last year and they added an extremely talented rookie power forward in Bobby Portis which means their are too many power forwards and too few minutes to go around in Chicago. Add to this that power forwards are in high demand and you have a great trade situation for the Bulls to get max value in return for a player they do not desperately need."

Taj Gibson is one of the best decisions Chicago Bulls made. He was drafted 26th overall in 2009 and has since then climbed his way to the top.

He is a member of the 2010 All-Rookie Team and had his best year in 2014 wherein he averaged 18.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in the playoffs.
