Justin Beiber's new album, "Purpose" is due out this November and the controversial singer will be facing some tough competition from another teen sensation group.
According to Hollywood Life, the "What Do You Mean?" singer, who had his grand comeback during an emotional performance on the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year, wants to take over the charts and rise to the top once again. He also intends to beat his contemporaries, confident that he'll be able to end One Direction and Taylor Swift's perch on the global throne.
The tension further increased when it was revealed that Justin Bieber's album will be released on the same day that One Direction will be unveiling their first album since Zayn Malik left the group, "Made In The A.M."
The rivals reportedly acknowledged each other's challenges by posting Snapchats alluding to the album release battle. Nevertheless, they quickly cleared up the issue, assuring fans that they are indeed "good friends" and did the Snapchats out of pure fun.
"I look forward to listening to their album, too," Hollywood Reporter quoted the singer.
One Direction isn't the only group that the recently "reformed" singer is targeting for his new release.
"Justin not only wants to beat One Direction but he wants to shatter Taylor Swift's 1984 album sales record," a source reportedly told the gossip site in another article. "He wants to try to reach 2 million which seems almost impossible but he honestly believes that he'll be able to do it and prove that he is 100% back!"
Swift's "1989" sold a whopping 1.287 million records in its first week of release, a feat which hadn't been done since 2002. Ironically, the "Bad Blood" singer is best friends with his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.
Could he take back the crown he once wore from Swift and One Direction? Whether he could indeed do it or not, Justin Bieber's new album will still be dropping on Nov. 13.
