If he won several Grammys thanks to an unrequited love, will Sam Smith getting a boyfriend hinder him from making a new set of award-winning songs?
According to the "Stay With Me" hitmaker, he is currently enjoying a life without attachments at the moment.
"I'm still very single," he reportedly revealed to British newspaper, The Sun (via Capital FM).
He was most recently linked to American model and dancer Jonathan Zeizel in the beginning of the year. Instead of wallowing in the breakup, however, the "Leave Your Lover" singer focused on making music and getting fit. He also had to spend time in recovery after undergoing surgery for a vocal chord injury.
Nevertheless, he reportedly doesn't feel the need to look for romance since he didn't really experience it when he entered the industry.
Could Sam Smith be pining for a boyfriend now that he's virtually achieved his dream career-wise?
"At the moment I'm trying to hang onto a relationship with me and my family and my friends," he said, adding that he still has to get used to "the routine of this life" before he "can introduce a guy."
"The blessing for me is that I didn't have a boyfriend before I got well known so I didn't know any different," he added. "If I'd been in a relationship before I got well known I think I'd be a bit more upset."
According to previous interviews, he wrote his debut album, "In The Lonely Hour," to express his feelings for a straight man who couldn't reciprocate his love.
He's currently working on his second album, which will reportedly come out "in next year or so" according to the musician.
"I'm already writing my album. I've got the title and I've got two songs I'm absolutely in love with. I'm a songwriter and an artist and I think and breathe my second record every day of my life," The List quoted the "Money On My Mind" singer. "I will bring my album out in the next year or so, but it's not going to be immediate because I think people are going to get sick of me if I brought an album out next week."
Perhaps Sam Smith will get a new boyfriend after the release of his new album.
