"Underworld 5" movie is reportedly gearing up following confirmation from Kate Beckinsale's producer husband, Len Wiseman.
Talking to IGN, he confirmed that "Underworld 5" is definitely in the works, in addition to a spin-off film and TV series.
"There's a few things being developed right now and there's some characters that we really like," the 42-year-old writer-producer said of the "Underworld 5" movie.
"There's kind of more of a spin-off of some of the characters like we did with Rise of the Lycans and then another film is also being developed in the works with Kate possibly as well, and then there's a television series as well.
"It's kind of expanding that universe in many ways," he continued.
Apparently, Kate Beckinsale is already on board together with Theo James, who first appeared in the vampire movie franchise "Underworld Awakening," JoBlo confirmed.
Beckinsale and James have yet to release a statement about the film however.
As per The Hollywood Reporter there are actually a number of options for Theo James to appear in "Underworld."
"Sources say there was an option on James because of his work on the previous film, and he'll star opposite two new female characters," THR claimed.
According to JoBlo the story will now delve on "a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races."
Apparently, Theo James and Kate Beckinsale will be joined by "Game of Thrones" star Tobias Menzies, who will play the role of Marius, the new Lycan leader while Deadline claimed that "Merlin" star Bradley James has been cast as one of the male villains whose character has yet to be revealed.
With the release date still unsettled, "Underworld 5" is going to be under Lakeshore Entertainment's Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg production with Cory Goodman writing the script.
Anna J. Foerster, who has been famous for her brilliance in cinematography will reportedly make her directorial debut in "Underworld 5."
