Nick (David Giuntoli) was left devastated after his own mother and his girlfriend was killed last season.
Thankfully, he has the birth of his son to buoy him during the darkest part of his life. Check out the "Grimm" season 5 spoilers ahead to find out what Nick will face this year.
"In the wake of his mother's beheading and Juliette's death, things have never been more chaotic for Nick," NBC (via IB Times) teased the synopsis of the first episode, titled "The Grimm Identity."
"Having lost so much, Nick must dig deep and decide what type of person he wants to be, while also coming to grips with fathering a child with his once sworn enemy, Adalind (Claire Coffee). His search for the truth leads him to FBI Agent Chavez and puts him at odds with those close to him."
Executive producer David Greenwalt already warned fans that the Wesen-hunter won't be as put-together as he was in previous seasons. The Royals (and Juliette by extension) left him with basically nothing in past "Grimm" season 5 spoilers.
Thankfully, he won't be totally alone this season. The producers noted that Nick's son with his mortal enemy, Adalind, will become the light in his current darkness.
One of the released sneak peek photos of the episode from NBC showed Adalind giving birth in the hospital with Nick by her side. It looks like he will be meeting his son early on in the season.
On the other hand, he will have to figure out a way to "live with each other" according to Coffee. Whether this baby will stop him from seeking revenge from the Royals still remains to be seen.
His current state, however, will definitely put him at odds with the "Scooby Gang."
A recent promo video from NBC shows Nick lashing out at his partner, Hank, as he realizes that he has to look for Agent Chavez somehow holds answers to the questions plaguing him about the Royals.
