Benedict Cumberbatch's son, reportedly named Christopher Carlton, was born to the actor and his wife Sophie Hunter in June.
Although they kept their son away from prying eyes for months, the coupe finally brought their son out for a stroll around London last month.
He looked like father besotted by his child in the photos taken, and it seems little Christopher has helped him become better at playing Hamlet.
"I've just become a father and I used to think of have to be childless to be a Hamlet," the "Sherlock" star reportedly said during his interview of a Lord Bragg's South Bank Show. "I thought that it may be a difficult ingredient to play with but it's miraculous - as I'm sure you know being a dad - that your thinking about how you were parented shoots up as well."
He added that being a father was "serendipity" since it wasn't exactly "planned."
On the other hand, turning into Shakespeare's tragic prince can become very exhausting with a wife and new baby at home.
"I have to shed my skin quite quickly," he continued. "I drop it all very very quickly because I have to eat and sleep. That's honestly the truth. And get home, to a newborn."
Even before Benedict Cumberbatch's son was born, the actor already predicted that becoming a dad would help him become a better actor.
"I think what children do is enhance your life, they don't inhibit it," he previously said during a press con at the Chinese Grand Prix, ET Canada reported. "They don't limit it, they give you inspiration and depths of understanding of the human condition and what it is to be on this planet and what our purpose is, that goes well beyond anything a childless actor could hope for."
With the positive reviews of his performance as Hamlet at the Barbican, it seems that Benedict Cumberbatch's son is indeed a new source of inspiration for the actor.
