When the Samsung Gear VR consumer edition comes out on its November release date, it will launch alongside the Hulu VR app.
"We're ready to go," Tim Connolly, Hulu's head of distribution told CNET.
Per the website, the Los Angeles-based streaming giant follows the footsteps of rivals Netflix and and YouTube in "supporting virtual reality with content."
VR has been around for a while catering to a niche audience but it could soon go mainstream with the impending release dates of VR headsets from Samsung, Facebook-owned Oculus, Sony and HTC and Vive, among others in the coming months.
"Hulu subscribers will be able to log directly into the Hulu app through their virtual reality device," the streaming giant said.
From there, subscribers can watch Hulu's entire library in 2D "in unique viewing environments created for VR devices." Apparently, subscribers can watch a "Seinfeld" episode from within Jerry's apartment.
Connolly also told CNET that Hulu is looking into "commissioning original series that are purely virtual reality without a '2D' element."
To that end, company execs revealed they are working on a VR short film called "The Big One," made by YouTube creator Freddie Wong. It is said to be a bonus short for his new series, "RocketJump: The Show."
"We think this is a smart bet that helps position us as an innovator and helps us learn earlier on what could be a substantive storytelling environment," Connolly said.
Then again, he did point out that most Hulu subscribers watch content with their TVs.
"It'll be interesting to see how Hulu's efforts might make a dent in its otherwise living room-dominated streaming," PCMag said.
The website thinks virtual reality may not catch on with many right off the bat but actual VR content may help in its success.
The Samsung Gear VR consumer edition release date is set for some time in November. Hulu said it will reveal when exactly its VR app will launch at a later date.
