While fans patiently wait for Dave Matthews Band to release a new album, the frontman himself revealed that they are already working on it.
However, he did also say that doing regular tours have prevented the band from fully working on the album.
In an interview by Rolling Stone as reported by Music Mic, Dave Matthews discussed the progress of their new record, saying that he has been writing new songs already.
"I go on a lot of tangents, so I've been doing some writing, and I certainly could fill the space of several albums with music that I've made," he said. "But I haven't yet fallen in love with the whole thing. I'm in love with parts of it."
And while fans would have to wait for the recording, Dave Matthews teased that if they wanted to hear new songs from their new album they should just come and hear them perform live.
"We've always let people record our music, so probably they'll end up getting some of it anyway if they just tape the shows or we put some live releases out," Matthews explained. "But at some point, we'll have an album that we'll put out for whatever reason people still do that."
And in a separate interview as reported by Relix, the 48-year-old musician explained what fans could expect of their new album as they try to incorporate new ideas with their old music.
"I've been in the studio trying to get a couple of things ready for the band to go back in, having fun," he explained. "I'm just trying to come up with something that doesn't sound like the past."
"I think we are unique and a pretty badass band - maybe a little creakier than we once were," he explained. "We are cursed and blessed with the fact that if you want to see what the band is like and get to know us, then you have to see us live or at least listen."
