Finally Korn is working on a follow up album to their 2013 record, "The Paradigm Shift."
And while details about the new album have remained under wraps, guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch gamely talked about the new tracks and what fans should expect from it.
Talking to Pop Break, Munky and Head reveal that their new album will definitely feature songs with "dirtier and heavier" riffs without sacrificing the "melodic elements" known from the band.
"Keep the melodic elements of what we captured on the last record but really expand on the heavy riffs and get a bit dirtier," Shaffer revealed. "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that."
Comaparing their band from the others, Munky discussed how much risk Korn has taken in developing this new album.
"It's about taking chances and going out on a limb," he added. "You hear a lot of bands say how every album is a chance to reinvent yourself. For us, I really feel like we've gone out on a f-ing plank because sometimes there's no turning back. You have to commit to it and sometimes it's like 'Eh, I don't know,' and you kind of let go and see what happens."
And while fans wait for the release of the new album, Korn is now busy doing a mini tour performing songs from their self-titled debut album, which was released back in 1994.
Munky told Rolling Stone that the band is really excited with this toud, knowing that they are celebrating the album's 20th anniversary.
"We were all sitting in the car, listening to one of the rough mixes [of the whole album], and I just remember all of us like getting goosebumps," Munky previously said of the album. "We called it 'the Watch,' 'cause you kinda look at your arm and you look like you're looking at a watch. We all had goosebumps."
