The "Final Fantasy 7" PS4 remake may not have a release date yet but to celebrate its announcement, a group of fans have come together to produce a remix album of the original's soundtrack.
"'MATERIA: Final Fantasy VII Remixed' is the album we have always wanted to exist," Materia Collective founder and album producer Sebastian Wolff said in a statement.
"It is more than a cover album; it is a collection of individual musical tributes from nearly 200 artists, collaborating to create a massive five-disc tribute to one of the most beloved games and soundtracks of all time."
The album will reportedly follow in the footsteps of other fan-made remix projects such as "Zelda Orchestrated" and "OverClocked ReMix." It pays tribute to "FF7's" soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu.
"Every single track from 'Final Fantasy VII' has been remixed, arranged, or re-imagined into a variety of different music genres," according to Siliconera.
Tracks include the "Main Theme from Final Fantasy VII," "Aerith's Theme," "Costa del Sol," "Cosmo Canyon" and "One-Winged Angel," among others.
All in all, listeners can look forward to 88 items in the full album, according to GamingBolt.
Among those involved in the album that celebrates the announcement of the "Final Fantasy 7" PS4 remake are Jeff Ball ("TimeSpinner"), Will Roget, II ("Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris"), Dale North ("Dragon Fantasy Book II"), Smooth McGroove, Doug Perry, Kristin Naigus, Videri String Quartet, Kyle Landry, and Laura Intravia, among many others.
The full album can be downloaded from iTunes for $19.99. Those who have an Apple Music subscription can stream the remixed songs.
Alternatively, it can be bought from Loudr for $15 or more if you make a contribution.
