When "Outlander" season 2 air date arrives, the Claire and Jamie fans will see are more matured and driven.
If in the first season they are still trying to figure out what's going on, particularly Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), the second season will see their journey expand.
The finale of last season saw the power couple travel to France after their painful ordeal in the hands of Jack. Reports say they will be involved in different missions, both in personal and political level.
Through all these struggle, Caitriona Balfe said her Claire realized now has a mission and with her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) around, she will be able to fulfill it.
"With Jamie, in the 18th century, once they come together, she is Jamie's wife," Balfe told PEOPLE as reported by Your Health Mag. "She is still very much the healer - the conjurer woman. She has her own destiny. She can fulfill it with Jamie."
"Outlander" season 2 air date is expected to be announced soon, with March or April as the target. In this new season, Jamie will meet royal people from France and Scotland where he has a special mission.
"Jamie's thrown himself into it wholeheartedly," Heughan said in an interview with Blastr back in July.
"He's in it, but he's not relishing it at all. We see them slowly get better at [playing the game] and learn they can undercut people and be quite political themselves. Publicly he's a good businessman and very charming, but in those late nights with Claire we see the mask come off. They are bonded mostly by their child, and it carries them through."
A broadening storyline also signals expanding cast with Caitriona herself is excited about.
"Very much so. I liken it to when she first met Geillis," Balfe told TIFB's Erin Conrad when asked about how excited she is on "Outlander" season 2 casting, particularly Dominique Pinon who will play Master Raymond.
"It's again this person that she has a like-minded interest in herbs and healing. It's the first friend she makes in Paris. He is an absolute joy. I am a big fan of his work anyway from before and when I heard they cast him, I was kind of excited. I was like, "we got Dominique Pinon!" He's just a joy to work with, he's bigger than life, he's a real unique, fantastic character, and he plays him so brilliantly."
