Disney is planning to release at least four more live-action fairy tales in the next couple of years aside from the previously confirmed adaptations of popular tales.
"The Jungle Book," "Alice Through The Looking Glass" and "Pete's Dragon" are scheduled for screening in 2016 while "Beauty And The Beast" is slated for a 2017 release.
According to SlashFilm, these four slots, which will reportedly come to theaters on Dec. 22, 2017, Nov. 2, 2018, March 29, 2019, and Nov. 8, 2019, could be any of the live-action adaptations currently in development.
The list of possible tales include the Tim Burton-helmed "Dumbo," the Peter Hedges-penned "Pinocchio," or the Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek-written "Mulan." Other options are "Winnie The Pooh" which will be written by Alex Perry as well as "Sword In The Stone" which will be penned by "Game Of Thrones" writer Brian Cogman.
Meanwhile, there are also plans to work on spinoffs for "Tinkerbell" (starring Reese Witherspoon), "Prince Charming," and "Genies" (prequel for "Aladdin").
It's still unclear as to which of the aforementioned Disney live-action fairy tales will fit in the four scheduled release dates.
On the other hand, Hypable reported that "Cruella," "one of Disney's longest-gestating live-action fairy tale projects" has nabbed "Fifty Shades Of Grey"screenwriter Kelly Marcel for the film, making it another candidate for the list.
The site believed that Disney might just be hoping to finally put the "101 Dalmations" adaptation as one of the unnamed live-action adaptations on the list.
The Disney live-action films aren't the studio's only offering. The release schedule for "The Incredibles 2," "Cars 3," "Toy Story 4," as well as new animations "Coco" and "Gigantic" was also revealed. Two other fresh animated films from Pixar are also lined up for cinematic premieres in 2018 and 2020.
