With "Kong: Skull Island" scheduled for March 10, 2017 release, lead star Tom Hiddleston excitingly gears up as he talks about his role in the movie.
In an interview with Collider, the 34-year-old English actor gamely talked about his character.
"I've been digging around in some dark material, to be honest," he divulged. "There's something very heroic about my character in Skull Island. He's an adventurer, he's an explorer. I mean, it's a King Kong film. There we go."
In a separate interview with MTV News, Tom Hiddleston admitted how he cannot contain his excitement about the film.
"I don't want to spill [director] Jordan Vogt-Roberts' beans, but he has a conception of the film which is so exciting, and that's what I jumped onto," he claimed.
With director Jordan Vogt-Roberts helming "Kong: Skull Island," Hiddleston promises that viewers will see "the power of myth" surrounding King Kong and all the kaijus.
"There's something about the location and the time period and the cultural context of it which says something completely different about the myth," he said of the upcoming "Kong: Skull Island" movie. "Jordan and I bonded over the power of myth and that King Kong is an emblem of something very profound about the power of nature, the sort of magic of the natural world, its mystery and our need to let it be in a way and I think that's why the power of the mythology of Kong has endured. We're drawn to things we don't understand."
Adding that Legendary Pictures' take on the film will offer something "very, very new and refreshing" story to the already known adventures of King Kong.
"I can imagine what it's going to be like to sit there with your popcorn and your bucket of soda or whatever and let this thing happen to you," he teased.
Meanwhile, "Kong: Skull Island," which apparently suffered a minor setback when two of its supposed cast, Michael Keaton and JK Simmons, dropped out of the project, is now reportedly back on track.
Slash Film reported Legendary has already found actors that would complete the casting lineup.
Apparently Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson and John C. Reilly are all in talks to star in the prequel of "King Kong" together with Tom Hiddleston in the lead.
Variety has exclusively reported that "Straight Outta Compton" star Corey Hakwins is also in final negotiations to join the cast with Brie Larson, who is supposedly Tom Hiddleston female lead partner, confirmed in the line up.
