Jay Garrick did not appear in "The Flash" season 2 episode 1 until the closing moments.
The first ever hero to use the Flash mantle is arguably the biggest addition in the show and fans had first glimpse of him in last few minutes of Tuesday's episode.
Of course, the first person Garrick looked for is his counterpart Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). He came out of nowhere and people in STAR Labs were startled by him.
Det. Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) even had to threaten him. When he said "your world is in danger", that is when everyone seemed to have calmed down.
This new speedster's appearance in "The Flash" season 2 episode 1 started unsettling for Barry and friends. The Central City hero will feel skeptic about their visitor for quite a long while. Even if Garrick insists that he is there to help them, the Scarlet Speester will remain vigilant over his presence because of their experience from Prof. Harrison Wells.
"He's very wary," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly when asked how Barry Allen feels about their visitor
"The last time somebody said, "I came from another place and I'm here to help you," it turned out to be the guy who tried to kill them all. Barry is dealing with a little bit of that."
Although their relationship/friendship won't sail smooth, Kreisberg said they will find solace in each other.
"What's interesting about their dynamic is last season Barry really saw Wells as another father figure," the EP added.
"This year, Barry has grown up a little bit. He doesn't need that as much. We're looking at Jay as more of a bigger brother who went to college and has come back. He's experienced what it's like to be The Flash, and he's able to teach Barry a whole bunch of new Flash tricks and new uses for powers that Barry and his team hadn't even considered, some of which Wells probably never bothered to show him because he didn't want him to get too strong. That's exciting watching Barry as he learns to master some of these new talents."
"The Flash" season 2 episode 2 is called "Flash of Two Worlds". Read synopsis below.
"Jay Garrick (guest star Teddy Sears), a mysterious man from Earth-2, appears at S.T.A.R. Labs with a dire warning about an evil speedster named Zoom, who is set on destroying The Flash. Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team must decide if they can trust this stranger even as they face yet another powerful meta-human. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) must deal with a determined officer named Patty Spivot (guest star Shantel VanSanten) who wants to join his meta-human task force."
