Emotions were high during "Agents Of SHIELD" Season 3 Episode 2 called "Purpose in the Machine." Characters missing in last week's episode are back.
The most emotional return concerns Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) who went missing in last season's finale after getting sucked up by a still unidentified creature.
Good thing her partner Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) did not give up. With the help of Skye (Chloe Bennet), Coulson (Clark Gregg), and the rest of the team, Fitz was able to track Simmons and bring her back.
Fitz-Simmons reunion is a "feel good" moment in "Agents Of SHIELD" season 3 episode 2. However, it will not last long enough.
Simmons may have returned but she might not be the same person anymore. Also, Henstridge said her character is suffering emotionally and the worst part is, she is still being chased by the same creature that kidnapped her.
"She's definitely afraid of that. That will for sure feature," Henstridge told Entertainment Weekly.
"Now that she's back, it's not like, "I'm fine, moving on!" It will have a huge impact on the rest of the season. Psychologically, she's petrified that she's not safe."
The actress also confirmed that SHIELD's life sciences expert could be suffering from PSTD.
"She has PTSD. She's been through something, which, for her especially, was just unthinkable," she said.
"She's not been sure about any of the Inhuman stuff or the alien everything. Now all of a sudden she experiences it. Not to say that she's an Inhuman, but she has experienced alien things first hand and it has changed her. It transported her to another place and she doesn't understand how that's possible. Maybe we'll find out what happened while she was there. She's been in survival mode. We see her and her clothes are tattered, she's dirty, and she's obviously been through it. She's reliving those nightmares. She's suffering from PTSD when we see her in this episode."
"Agents Of SHIELD" season 3 returns next week for episode called "A Wanted (Inhu)man". Check synopsis below.
"Daisy, Mack and Coulson race to protect Lincoln as Rosalind's team hunts down the Inhuman in their quest for powered people. Meanwhile, Hunter proves that there is no line that he will not cross to exact his revenge against Ward and Hydra."
