Will "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot finally move forward?
While there have been little to no information as to who will be included in the cast line up, a new report coming from Variety revealed new details about the project.
Apparently, the casting crew are looking into casting not so famous actors to star in "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot.
Now Variety released a list of actors reportedly being considered to play the Rangers.
According to the source of the publication, a number of actors are auditioning for the role of the Red Ranger.
Including in the list are Austin Butler (Shannara Chronicles), Mitchell Hope (The Descendants) and KJ Apa (Shortland Street).
The role of the Black Ranger has Ross Butler (Chasing Life), Daniel Zovatto (It Follows) and Brian "Sene" Marc auditioning for.
While Naomi Scott (The Martian) is reportedly being shortlisted to play the role of the Pink Ranger.
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot will be penned by "X-Men: First Class" writers Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller.
It's expected though that Lionsgate would soon reveal the complete cast lineup for the reboot.
According to director Dean Israelite, "Mighty Morphine Power Rangers" reboot is now in "soft pre-production."
"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way," Israelite explained to IGN.
Adding, "It had this wonderful character that's essential to going on a fantastic adventure. I was instantly drawn to it. "
"I remember it as a kid," he said. "I grew up with it in South Africa. When I opened the script I had no idea how it was going to be updated, and I was really impressed by it."
With the new possible cast line up in tow "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot is slated for Jan. 13, 2017 release date.
