Talks of Disney reviving "Indiana Jones" movie have been growing rampant following Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy's confirmation in an interview with Vanity Fair.
"When it will happen, I'm not quite sure," Kennedy told Vanity Fair of the "Indiana Jones 5" movie. "We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."
And while nothing has been made official yet, a new development involving "Jurassic World" star Chris Pratt and director Steven Spielberg may help jumpstart the fifth installment of the franchise.
According to Cinema Blend, Pratt is the frontrunner to Disney's planned "Indiana Jones 5," Deadline claims that Spielberg is interested to go on board as director "assuming a script comes in to his satisfaction."
Apparently, it's only natural for Spielberg to get involved since he directed the Harrison Ford "Indiana Jones" movie and was also involved in Disney's latest "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull" with the already aged Ford partnered with younger Shia LaBeouf.
The publication goes on saying that while Chris Pratt is not exactly like Harrison Ford, his "ability to tackle strong, heroic roles with humor and relatable humanity" makes him as likable, which is fitting for the job.
A source of Showbizspy claimed that "Disney is looking at its long-term options for the 'Indiana Jones' franchise. "They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies."
As different publications speculate about the planned "Indiana Jones 5" with Chris Pratt, Rolling Stone reported that Harrison Ford "hasn't ruled out returning to the 'Indiana Jones' franchise."
Meanwhile, Chris Pratt has been playing coy about his said involvement with the franchise.
In his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the 35-year-old actor was questioned about his involvement with movie.
"Interesting...I don't remember going over that....I don't know, that's....this movies is...to get to your question, Jurassic World opens on June 12," he answered.
And while he did not recall any casting call, he teased that he might actually have been given a call but unfortunately missed it.
"Well, I have no answer to it, I don't know," he quipped. "I mean, no one has....I missed a phone call the other day, unknown number. I hope it wasn't him."
Disney has yet to set a release date for the planned "Indiana Jones 5" given that everything is still in its early stages of development.
