If the following story will become a legit "Gotham" season 2 spoiler, the comic book world will surely be divided.
Warning: "Gotham" season 2 episode three spoiler ahead.
Now that Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) is dead, the mystery on who the Joker will be in the Batman-prequel series re-opens.
Monaghan made a brilliant portrayal of his character which show's executive producers intentionally made to look like the Clown Prince of Crime. However, in "Gotham" season 2 episode three titled "The Last Laugh," he was set up as a goat by his recruiter Theo Galavan (James Frain) who has other more ambitious plan for himself.
A Batman show will forever be associated with the Joker with the fact that the latter is arguably the Dark Knight's greatest villain. "Gotham" showrunner Bruno Heller is not closing the door for The Joker.
In fact, they are 100 percent considering making this character become their version of the famous villain. She is the girl-next-door turned criminally insane Barbara Kean (Erin Richards).
"100% possible. One of the central themes of the DC world is transformation and revelation," Heller told Comicbook.com when asked if Erin Richards' character can become the female Joker.
"Absolutely, those kinds of - I wouldn't want to call it playing with people's expectations or gender expectations - but we've absolutely considered the possibility of a female Joker, and we haven't... well I'll stop myself from saying more because I won't be able to stop revealing things. (laughs)"
In previous "Gotham" season 2 spoilers, Richards said she is very open to the idea of Barbara becoming the Joker.
People will be divided if ever this come into fruition. It could be a great twist to the character and nod to the "Flashpoint" storyline wherein Bruce Wayne's mom become the Joker, his father is the Batman while he was the one who died in the alley.
The only problem is that Barbara is meant to become the wife of Jim Gordon, played in the show by Ben McKenzie, and will eventually give birth to a girl who will become the Batgirl/Oracle.
Is this a good idea?
Meanwhile, "Gotham" season 2 episode four is called "Strike Force." See synopsis here.
