'The Strain' Season 2 Finale Episode: Is [Spoiler] Really Dead? Showrunner Compares Twist To 'Lost'

| By

The ultimate episode of the second season of "The Strain" was not only action-packed, it was also filled with "feels."

"The Strain" season 2 episode 13 titled "Night Train" saw one of its main characters getting killed. It is worth nothing that this character is alive in the book where the FX network show was based from.

At the end of the latest "The Strain" season 2 episode 13, Nora (Mia Maestro) encountered Kelly Goodweather (Natalie Brown), who is now a vampire, while she and Zach were escaping.

She failed to protect Zach and the worse part is she got infected by Kelly. To prevent becoming one of them, she decided to electrocute herself in front of Eph (Corey Stoll) who definitely was devastated by recent developments.

There was no footage of her corpse so the question is, is Nora really dead? Executive producer Carlton Cuse just stroke blows to her fans' hopes.

"Your reader is very imaginative, but sadly and unfortunately Nora is dead" he told TV Line which present a theory regarding the fate of Nora. "[Killing Nora] was a very hard decision, because Mia Maestro is one of the most wonderful people you'll meet and a very fine actress."

Cuse also compared the move to what he did in his ABC show "Lost" where main characters also die saying "it was necessary to make sure the show has a sense of danger and stakes."

With Nora's death, there is a scarcity of women character in the show. Coco also died in "The Strain" season 2 finale episode. When asked if there will be new cast coming in, Cuse gave a positive response.

"There will be some additions," Cuse told TVLine. "But we also have a very large cast, and one of the things we struggled with in the second season was effectively servicing all of the characters."

"We are very excited to do more, for instance, with the [Councilwoman] Justine Feraldo character played by Samantha Mathis. She's going to be a big part of Season 3."
