The Cure To Release New Album On Their 2016 North American Tour?

| By

After almost a decade of laying low, The Cure has finally decided to do a full North American tour in 2016.

According to Consequence of Sound, the English rock band has confirmed to go on a tour which include shows in "Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Chicago's UIC Pavilion, and Madison Square Garden in NYC," which are set between May to June.

While The Cure is said to reveal the complete details of their tour in January, there's an ongoing speculation that the band would release their planned new album during their tour.

While the band's decision to come up with a tour could be linked following the release of a favorable settlement from their lengthy lawsuit with their former label.

With the help of the band members' strong relationship, The Cure was able to get back on its feet.

"A lot of stuff happened, unfortunately, with the last line-up of the band," Robert Smith explained. "People forget sometimes that even when you get older, when you play music with people, there's a very intense relationship there and when that breaks down then it's very difficult to just pretend it doesn't matter."

The Cure's frontman has also previously revealed to NME they are indeed working on a new album, which will feature both old and new songs.

"There's new stuff that we're doing with this line-up and stuff we finished with the old line up," Smith revealed.

During a separate interview with Uncut, Smith even made fun of the title of their new album saying that it will be called "4:14 Scream," in reference to their last record, "4:13 Dream," which started the whole court battle.

And while he admitted that it is "a dreadful title," he explained that Andy, their go to guy for their cover arts "has done a really great album cover for it, a kind of pastiche of me doing a scream, so maybe we'll keep it. It's one of those reverse psychology things, where it's so bad it's good."
