Marvel's phase 4 will look like an alien world to newer audiences when it introduces a new team of Avengers but long-time comic book fans are already familiar with this.
"Avengers" producer Jeremy Latcham told Slashfilm that "Infinity War" marks the end of Earth's Mightiest Heroes as audiences know them. He did reassure fans that the team will stay the same in principle.
"But the ideas and ideals that make The Avengers still exist, and I think that's part of what makes this culmination will be: we're seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save this universe, this galaxy, however you want to put it, and we'll see where this goes."
Latcham went on to explain that it won't be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "but it will be the end of part of it for sure."
"We're still trying to sort out which parts," he said as he laughed.
As Cinema Blend pointed out, the Avengers line-up has already undergone a revamp in "Age of Ultron."
Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and The Hulk have left the team for different reasons and only Captain America and Black Widow are left by the end of the film.
With some of the original members gone, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Falcon have been recruited to bolster their ranks.
Latcham's comments hint that there will be more revamps to the Avengers line-up in phase 4.
With a looming showdown against Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War," Marvel's premiere superhero team could suffer casualties, according to Cinema Blend.
The website went on to speculate that the new Avengers line-up could include upcoming heroes such as Captain Marvel, Black Panther and Doctor Strange.
Before Marvel's phase 4, fans can look forward to "Avengers: Infinity War" with part I showing on May 4, 2018. Part II follows May 3, 2019.
