Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson will return as Derek and Hansel in "Zoolander 2".
The comedy sequel is due for release on Feb. 12, 2016 and was written by Justin Theroux. He was also supposed to direct the film, but he handed that job over to Ben Stiller because of his tight schedule.
During a recent interview with TIME, the 44-year-old actor revealed how much he loves high fashion and how that helped him write the story.
"The absurdity of it and the show of it-it's a hysterical topic. It is one of those things where, at a fashion show, if you step three degrees to your left, it's the funniest thing in the world," he said.
Justin Theroux admitted that he was thrilled writing different characters in the fashion world.
"It's really fun. I always take examples from fashion shows in New York and Paris," he shared. "I went to Rome a couple times during the filming, and the contrast between shooting 'The Leftovers' and then jumping over to Rome was huge and really badly needed, fresh air."
"Zoolander" was based on the modeling scene back in 2001 and a lot has changed through the years. TIME asked Jennifer Aniston's husband what kind of research he did to give a more precise story.
"The high level of absurdity was still there," Theroux revealed.
"When we first started writing 'Zoolander', I went to Paris fashion week and just did as many shows as I could. Not so much the shows - it was the after parties and the fashion events where you get to see the fireworks really go off. That's where you can get most of your material," he explained further.
Many famous celebrities were confirmed to do a cameo in "Zoolander 2" including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, but Justin Theroux revealed that there will be more superstars appearing in the film.
"I don't want to give any away, but there are a couple of unbelievable cameos. I can't believe we got them, in one sequence in particular," the scriptwriter teased.
"For the first one, they had real trouble [getting cameos] because no one really knew what it was. Now it's more iconic," he explained. "We basically got to write cameos with the knowledge that we're probably going to get them. There was no shortage of people wanting to do cameos."
Other cameos confirmed in "Zoolander 2" include Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, Willie Nelson, Susan Sarandon, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, and Lewis Hamilton to name a few.
