Following reports of Kit Harington filming as Jon Snow for "Game of Thrones" season 6 his fate in George R.R. Martin's upcoming "Winds of Winter" novel has also been questioned.
Reportedly due for 2016 release date, the highly acclaimed author reportedly hinted Jon Snow's fate in his opus.
Following the cliffhanger on "A Dance with Dragons" Huffington Post reported that Jon Snow could have survived and return to "Winds of Winter" come its release date.
The publication took note of George R.R. Martin's previous interview where he teased fans of Snow's fate.
"Oh, you think he's dead, do you?" When asked if Jon Snow is really dead.
He also reminded fans that they "should know better than to take anything as gospel."
Additionally, the 67-year-old award-winning author also said during a Q&A at the Sasquan science fiction convention in Spokane not everything in the HBO hit series "Game of Thrones" are based on his novels and vice versa, the characters' fate from "Game of Thrones" is not indicative of what their fate would be in "Winds of Winter."
"Anything is possible," he said as reported by Geekwire.
And while George R.R. Martin is still mum about the novel's release date, Alejo Cuervo, editor of Ediciones Gigamesh, revealed to Lossie Tereinos via The Week, that "Winds of Winter" release date is most definitely happening next year.
"The difference between the release dates of the Spanish version and the English version are not expected to be much, as the manuscript will be made available to the Spanish publishers well before the book is out in the market," the article said.
He even quipped that "Winds of Winter" release date is sure to come next year "unless a meteor should fall."
"It's planned for next year," Cuervo assured. "They have promised us that they will give us the manuscript before the release date in English, but it won't be a big difference [between the dates]."
Cuervo's statement could be supported by George R.R. Martin's previous claim that he plans to release "Winds of Winter" prior to the airing of "Game of Thrones" season 6 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."
