The planned "Beetlejuice 2" is inching its way to reality.
Following confirmation that the sequel to Tim Burton's classic horror comedy film in 1988 is in the works, it seems like more of its original cast are going to return.
Apparently, veteran actress Geena Davis has gladly expressed her desire to return and reprise her role in "Beetlejuice 2."
In a recent interview with ET Online, the original "Beetlejuice" cast who played the role of Barbara Maitland, the newly-departed ghost gladly said that she would want to return.
"I did hear that it's really happening," she said of the sequel. "No one's talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too."
However, she did point out one reason that could prevent her and on-screen husband, Alec Baldwin, from reprising their roles as new cast members in "Beetlejuice 2."
"Ghosts probably don't age, and it's going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven't aged, but I think Alec Baldwin (Adam Maitland) maybe has aged, perhaps," she quipped.
Meanwhile, another original "Beetlejuice" cast revealed to "Late Night with Seth Meyers" that the sequel is definitely moving forward.
Winona Ryder, who played the role of Lydia Deetz in the original film confirmed the rumors of "Beetlejuice 2."
"I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview," Ryder told Meyers when asked about the sequel. "It was very hush-hush, top secret, 'I don't know what may happen, I don't know,' and then he was doing some press for 'Big Eyes' and he did an on-camera interview and he said, 'Oh yeah, we're doing it and Winona's gonna be in it.' So can I say...? I mean if he said it. But I really don't know much more than anybody else."
Meanwhile, Tim Burton, who will be directing the sequel previously revealed that a script is already done confirming that together with the new cast, some of the old characters will definitely return.
"There's a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I'm excited about it," Burton revealed through Yahoo! Movies. "I wouldn't call it so much a sequel, but it'll have some characters [from the original 'Beetlejuice']. It's a bit too early to say but it's definitely something that's on my radar and something I'd love to do."
Seth Grahame-Smith on the other hand, has told Entertainment Weekly that "Beetlejuice 2" will most likely going to start filming this year.
"I know Tim is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim's got to get ready to make ['Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children'], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we're waiting in the wings ready to go right after 'Peregrine's' wraps up. The ideal timeline is we're really getting into it toward the end of this year."
