Could it be possible? Will Sony Entertainment finally announce "God of War 4" release date?
Well not in the near future as they have just released the remastered version of the action-adventure Greek mythology game for the new generation consoles.
However, the very fact that Sony has released a remastered version is reportedly a clear indication that they are planning for a "God of War 4" launch.
In an official announcement made thru PlayStation Blog, "GOW" series writer, Cory Barlog hinted the possibilities of the fourth sequel in the future.
When, however, has yet to be discussed.
Meanwhile, Cross Map reported that now that the remastered version has been released, Sony could finally focus in the development of "God of War 4."
"Imagine a game like that [God of War 3] came out on PS4, right. Well, thanks to the fine folks at SCEA (or Santa Monica Studio) we do not have to imagine anymore because God of War III Remastered is here," Barlog said a statement.
Testing the waters for the series on the PS4 is said to be a good start for the series so that they could see how the game could work on the latest gaming console.
Additionally, having a remastered version launch in the new generation consoles, is the perfect way to test what's needed to be adjusted or improved in the future installments.
"Remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play 'God of War 3' five years ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4," he added. "People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we'd like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, from generation to generation."
Game Rant on the other hand, mentioned that IGN claimed "God of War 4" release date is sure to happen in the future
"IGN spoke with Barlog about the project and he indicated that the game is far out from release, teasing that we'd learn more about it in a 'year or two,'" the report stated hinting the "God Of War 4" release date. "Interestingly enough, the property and the name Kratos popped up during Sony's Project Morpheus VR panel today as well where Sony Computer Entertainment boss Shuhei Yoshida talked about a first-person demo he tried where the player was Kratos."
