A lot of things went down in "Empire" season 2 episode two titled "Without a Country."
There's a lot of singing compared to other episodes, a lot of guest stars, and some action scenes, too.
"Empire" season 2 episode 2 may have dropped in ratings compared to last week but one character is going to rise in the coming episodes.
Although already locked in prison, the Empire Entertainment founder still managed to record a track that had the Twitter world raving.
Showrunner Ilene Chalken revealed Lucius jail song was wrote by Terrence Howard himself and another song writer.
"It was great, and it was a song that we really loved that Terrence wrote with one of the musicians who also played in the scene," Chalken told Variety when asked to spill details about the song.
"He loves doing music. I think he's even said, if he had to choose, it would be music. It means so much to him and he's so gifted and he actually writes songs for some of the other actors and characters on the show time to time. It's very collaborative."
Chalken also revealed that Terrence has some songs written that depicts the "Empire" story.
"Sometimes he brings us songs and says 'I have something for you if there's a place for it,' but often, I spend a lot of time talking to Terrence about the stories we're telling, especially since the music that he makes in this season is very linked to story," she said.
Before that striking song in "Empire" season 2 episode 2 though, Lucius was seen coughing heavily making fans feel worried about him. Do they really need to worry about Lucius' health condition? Chalken has good news.
"No. It's a story that really gets resolved in the episode" Chalken said in the same interview when asked if there is something that fans should feel uneasy about Lucius.
"His medication was being withheld, it was captive by the prosecutor and once his new lawyer, Thirsty, ultimately manages to get Lucious' meds restored, he's fine. This is a health maintenance issue for Lucious. He has an illness, but as long as he gets good medical care, and he maintains himself, he'll be fine."
The next episode is called Fires of Heaven. Read episode guide below.
"Cookie and Anika secretly work together behind Lucious' back to pull off a surprise performance that catches the eye of Pitbull (guest-starring as himself). Meanwhile, Lucious tracks down Frank Gathers' daughter, Young Ma (guest star Bre-Z Murray), to try to convince her to sign with him at Empire, while Hakeem is hard at work on his girl group, Ménage a Trois. Also, Andre and Rhonda hope their baby-on-the-way will be the key that unlocks Lucious' cold heart and opens the door for Andre to return to the Empire fold."
