A lot of new characters debut in "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 episode one titled "Laws of Nature."
The Marvel/ABC TV series returned on Tuesday for its bigger more ambitious season and introduced new creatures. While all these new characters look compelling in their own rights, particularly inhuman Lash, fans can't help but look for the old ones.
Among those who were not seen in "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 pilot episode are Agent May (Wing Na-Men) who took a temporary vacation and former SHIELD turned Hydra agent Ward (Brett Dalton).
In an interview after last season's finale, executive producer Jeffrey Bell all of the main characters are coming back. However, the absence of the two disturbs fans.
Agent Ward is the one who has fans excited. He has so many unfinished businesses that need to be settled, including his disastrous romance with Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet). Dalton's character will return but don't expect him to be in good terms with Skye.
"I wouldn't say she's completely written him off, no," Bennet told Variety when asked Daisy has already written off Ward in her life.
"I think there's a level of "okay, you're totally crazy" and she would never say it out loud that she's not totally written him off, but I like to think that deep, deep, deep down, she doesn't quite buy this evil s-t."
In another interview with TV Line, Bennet said Daisy sees Ward as a murderer.
"Well, [he's] a murderer," she said in the panel which also include other stars of the show. "Chloe loves Brett [Dalton]. Daisy thinks [Ward] is a little psychotic, probably, right?
"Agents of SHIELD" season 3 episode one received great reviews from different websites. TV.com wrote "the focus on the Inhumans this season may be a reason to jump back on board."
Forbes, meanwhile, believes the new season is "the closest we're ever going to come to a long form X-Men story in the MCU" and "has the largest amount of heart seen from the show to date - particularly as it relates to the Fitz/Simmons arc."
"Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode two is called "Purpose in the Machine" and will air on Oct. 6.
