Floyd Mayweather Jr retirement does not sound convincing for many.
The American welterweight champ moved up to 49-0 Win-Loss record after beating Andre Berton on September 12 in what he says is his last boxing match.
His latest victory put him on level with Rocky Marciano who for more than 40 years owned the longest record of consecutive professional wins.
Among those who doubt Floyd Mayweather Jr's retirement are pro boxers Amir Khan and Keith Thurman and writer Skip Bayless and other several boxing writers.
Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com along with Mauro Ranallo, Paul Malignaggi and Virgil Hunter was joined by the undefeated American fighter for broadcast table during Tabiti's bout. Of course, the panel can't help but ask about his supposed retirement. They think Floyd still has one fight to compete at. However, he was adamant he will un-retire.
"I'm not coming back, but..." Mayweather teased at one point, before expressing his being content with playing a more active role in Mayweather Promotions. "I'm just happy to be on the other side."
The one more win the panel is talking is about the 50th win to surpass Rocky Marciano's record. For now, they are tied but the panel are arguing Floyd should get one more victory.
Boxing News 24 columnist Chris Williams argued a few days ago that Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao rematch should happen and it would make sense more than any other fight.
"It'll nice for Mayweather to improve his record to 50-0 by taking Pacquiao's scalp for the second time," Williams wrote.
"A lot of new fans would be more than happy to see Mayweather add Pacquiao's pelt to his collection a second time, and the old boxing fans won't mind see him whip Pacquiao a second time. Getting win No. 50 against Pacquiao would be a great way for Mayweather to sail off into the sunset and to pay the fans back for their devotion to him over the year."
Right now, the two camps are worlds apart when it comes to discussions. Manny Pacquiao is also reportedly set for a fight against Amir Khan.
Should Floyd Mayweather Jr. come out of retirement?
