Paul Feig recently announced that they have finished filming "Ghostbusters 3," which is slated for release on July 15, 2016.
The director posted "Ghostbusters" toys on Twitter and wrote, "It's a wrap on Ghostbusters!!!"
The reboot stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. These women will be taking over the role of Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and the late Harold Ramis. When the "Bridesmaids" director first made the announcement that the movie will feature four funny women, most die-hard fans were not thrilled about it.
There were even rumors coming out that a male version of "Ghostbusters 3" will be produced maybe to please the fans, but Paul Feig was confident that his ladies are going to kick ass. The 53-year-old director assured everyone that he isn't completely recreating the original film and viewers will still see some fun nods from it.
Maybe that's why he decided to ask the help of the original cast to make peace with his bashers. Bill Murray confirmed that he is appearing in "Ghostbusters 3." The 64-year-old actor shared his experience filming the movie during an interview with Yahoo! Movies.
"You know, they were incredibly nice to ask me, and I really enjoyed being there," Murray said. "They have such a jolly group, and they are going to have great success with this project. I didn't want to overshadow [them] or anything, and I feel really good about it."
Also joining Bill Murray is Sigourney Weaver, who starred as Dana Barrett in the 1984 comedy thriller. During an interview with Screenrant back in March, the 65-year-old actress hinted doing a cameo. "They might have us pop up as marshmallow men or something and then destroy us. I don't know," she said.
"I hope they will think of some silly way for us to be in it. Maybe I could play that ancient librarian who goes [makes noise]," she added. Just recently, Paul Feig confirmed that the "Chappie" star will be making a cameo in "Ghostbusters 3."
"Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I'll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!" he wrote on Twitter.
Also confirmed to appear in the film are Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), and Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts).
