Cinemax has also confirmed on the "Banshee" season 4 trailer teaser that the show, the studio's highest rated ever, will return to big screen on January next year.
The upcoming season will be the last of the show. Although the first three seasons had fans raving and received significant ratings, series creator Jonathan Tropper decided to end the show. In his article on Grantland, Tropper said the hard decision to end "Banshee" is due to the fact that he doesn't want it to be overstretched and hit a low point.
"I was determined from the start not to let that happen to Banshee," he said in the article written just few days since the cancellation was confirmed.
"Banshee's premise, by its very implausible nature, was always one with a somewhat limited shelf life. How long can anyone really pull off being a fake sheriff? We always felt that, under the best of circumstances, the show had a five-season arc. And we could have easily done that fifth season. We had the ratings, we had the fans, we had the passion."
"Banshee" season 3 has a 100 percent rating in Rotten Tomatoes, with audience at an impressive 95 percent. This is the reason why the cancellation came as a shock to its fans.
"Banshee" season 4 will pick up months after the events in the finale and among the interesting storylines to follow are Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) and continuation of his fake job as sheriff of Banshee, Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen) possibly teaming up with him, former Nazi skinhead turned deputy Kurt Bunker (Tom Pelphrey) and his feud with brother.
Other returning cast members are Ivana Milicevic, Frankie Faison, Hoon Lee, Matt Servitto, and Lili Simmons.
Expect "Banshee" season 4 release date to be announced soon.
