Released "Empire" season 2 episode 2 promo is out and by the looks of it, the war between members of Lyon family will only get worse. Watch the promo video below.
According to the synopsis released for "Empire" season 2 episode 2 called "Without a Country," Cookie will make her moves to challenge former husband Lucius (Terrence Howard).
"Cookie and her cohorts decide to start their own small record label, but it's off to a bumpy start as everyone has different visions for the new label. As his first project for the new company, Hakeem decides to form a girl group and woos a hot Latina lead singer (guest star Becky G), proving that he can be more than just an artist. Meanwhile, Lucious, feeling extra pressure from a bloodthirsty prosecutor, hires a new lawyer (guest star Andre Royo) and records an epic track from inside jail. In Lucious' absence, Jamal neglects his music and makes business moves that further his journey toward becoming every bit as ruthless as his father."
So Cookie will up the ante. However, things won't go easy for her. As seen in the last episode, Lucius beat her to one investor who she thought is already a slam dunk for her. She lost despite the fact that Lucius is in jail.
Marisa Tomei's Mimi Whiteman instantly endeared to "Empire" fans the moment she appeared on screen. "Empire" season 2 episode 1 has aired and one character that took some of the attention from Lyon family is Mimi, a lesbian, Forbes billionaire who just floored Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).
Mimi burst into the scene seemingly a reliable ally for Cookie but at the end of the episode, she dropped the deal with Cookie and decided her money will be better off with Lucius.
In succeeding "Empire" season 2 episodes, Mimi and Lucius will gang up on the country's Boo Boo Kitty.
"Her relationship will primarily be with Lucious," series showrunner Ilene Chalken told The Hollywood Reporter when asked for more about Mimi and her story.
"They really connect, and she did him a solid, to say the least. It's going to be an interesting working relationship between two powerful titans, each with an agenda."
