The newest feature of Gmail to block senders is here.
Now, Gmail users can filter messages and keep their inboxes uncluttered by blocking and unsubscribing senders they do not like.
"Sometimes you get mail from someone who's really disruptive. Hopefully it doesn't happen often-but when it does, you should be able to say, "Never see messages from this person again," said Product Manager Sri Harsha Somanchi in the official Gmail blog.
Beginning Sept. 24, Gmail users can disallow unwanted mail from occupying their inboxes by redirecting them automatically to the spam folder with just a few clicks.
The user only needs to click the "More" button beside the "Reply" button and choose the option that blocks a particular sender.
According to Devicemag, the blocking feature has been a Gmail feature for quite some time now, only it is now designed for further convenience.
"The feature is not entirely new. We were able to do so previously, but except for that we had to filter all those unwanted messages," Somanchi said. "With the new feature, blocking mails and users have become a two-click process. The option is available in the drop-down menu in your mail for desktop version,"
iDigital Times observed that blocking the sender does totally stop annoying emails but does not entirely delete it from your inbox, since it is only redirected to your spam folder.
Aside from the Gmail block sender feature, users can now easily prevent websites from sending subscribed emails and newsletters by toggling the unsubscribe switch.
Somanchi said that the block feature is now accessible on the web version of Gmail and assured that it will also be present on the Gmail Android app next week.
With these new features, Gmail users may now give their inboxes breathing room for more important mail.
"So try block or unsubscribe when the situation calls for it. And stay control of your inbox," said Somanchi.
