Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date Slated By The End 0f 2015? Packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 820

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 release date could be set by the end of 2015.

The Chinese tech giant reportedly will arm its upcoming Xiaomi MI 5 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 instead of the Snapdragon 810 which has been plagued with overheating issues.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is expected to address the issues faced by its predecessor. It is said to deliver faster performance and compete against "Huawei's Kirin 950 SoC which last month scored 6096 in multi-core test and MediaTek's deca-core Helio X20 chipset," Mobipicker reported.

Previously, Analyst Pan Jiutang predicted that the new chipset might go official on December and flagship devices bearing the Snapdragon 820 will go official in March 2016.

However, in his latest forecast he stated that Xiaomi might release the device, "as soon as December if Qualcomm delivers the Snapdragon 820 in due time," Tech Times reported.

"Electronic Industry Analyst, Pan Jiutang also confirmed that Xiaomi Mi 5 completely depends of Snapdragon 820 launch, it could arrive by the end of this year if Qualcomm manage to supply the required number of chips," Tech Grapple reports, quoted by Tech Times.

According to Phone Arena as leaked by @Leaksfly, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch screen, with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset will be accompanied by quad-core Kryo CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. Onboard will be a 4GB of RAM and a 16GB or 32GB internal storage variants.

It is anticipated that the device won't feature an external storage support as Xiaomi had already taken down this feature on its previous flagship devices. On the camera side, there's a16MP camera is on back, and an 8MP front-facing snapper for selfies,

It will also pack a fingerprint sensor and a Type-C USB port which has been the new standard for flagship devices along with a Android 5.1.1 and Xiaomi MIUI 7 on top of it.
