It's been more than three years since Katie Holmes won full custody of her daughter from Tom Cruise.
The actor also has to pay his ex-wife $400,000 annually for child support and this will continue until Suri Cruise turns 18.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sum amounts to a grand total of $4.8 million, which is significantly less than a judge could have ordered if the case went to trial.
It seems that the 36-year-old actress has realized that the judge is correct that's why she is reportedly going back to court to demand for more money.
"She's going to ask that the $400,000 a year in support she currently gets be amended to a higher amount," an insider told Life & Style via Radar Online.
"While Katie's taking every acting job that comes her way, she doesn't have the ability to keep her and Suri living the lifestyle that Tom's fortune allowed," the source added.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's daughter is already 9 years old and her extra-curricular activities are quite costly.
"There's also the fact that Suri is getting older and needs more money to travel back and forth across the country with Katie, as well as for her dance, skating and music lessons, new clothes, arts and crafts and tutors," their insider explained.
"Her needs will only grow exponentially over the next few years financially, which has Holmes preparing ... to make sure she gets the money she needs," their source added.
Katie Holmes is currently filming "All We Had" alongside rumored boyfriend Luke Wilson.
The brunette beauty will next appear in the TV mini-series "The Kennedys After Camelot" in 2016.
Tom Cruise, on the other hand, has several films lined up for the coming years including "Top Gun 2," "Mission: Impossible 6," "Jack Reacher 2" and "Mena."

According to Radar Online, Katie Holmes is ready to face her ex-husband again after their divorce in 2012.
"She's grown a lot tougher since splitting from Tom," their source said. "The marriage was suffocating her, but she's no longer afraid."
