Manny Pacquiao - Amir Khan fight is being groomed as the next biggest event in welterweight boxing.
The two former sparring mates are projected to come up with a deal in the coming months with both camps positive about the outcome. The fight is also expected to take place next year.
Pundits and fans think the Manny Pacquiao - Amir Khan fight will be an upgrade of the Pacman-Floyd that went down in May of this year.
The match, dubbed as the "Fight of the Century" generally underwhelmed and the public is hoping this bout between the Filipino and British boxers, will be an improvement since both of them are both volume punchers.
Freddie Roach thinks the same. However, he believes the match will be one sided in Pacman's favor.
"Manny's a little bit too big and strong for him and the better puncher," Roach told fightype.com.
"Amir Khan is a great athlete and a good fighter. They boxed quite a bit here in the ring."
The Boxing Hall of Fame inductee also said that no matter where the fight takes place, it is Manny Pacquiao who will come out triumphant.
"We'll fight him in his backyard. He can't beat Manny," he added.
Amir Khan once served as Pacquiao's sparring partner and that is one of many colors why their planned face off receives so much hype.
Manny Pacquiao is not Amir Khan's first target. The former Olympian openly challenged Floyd Mayweather after his win against Chris Algieri but to no avail. In recent interview, he said Floyd, now retired, will one day pick up his gloves again. Khan will then use his fight against Manny to get to the undefeated American fighter.
"I think Manny Pacquiao would be the priority because I don't know how long he has got left in his career, I think he would be the first fight to take," Amir Khan said of his probable next fight in an interview with BoxingScene.com.
"Manny P was probably number two pound-for-pound so by fighting him and beating him, it might get me to be the number one pound for pound fighter and then you get someone like Floyd Mayweather who might say I will come out of retirement and fight him-imagine that."
