Rachel McAdams instantly became a household name following her portrayal of Allie Hamilton in the box-office romance film "The Notebook" now she will reportedly delve into the superhero universe as she joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" movie.
The 36-year-old Canadian actress has proven how versatile her acting prowess is when she transitioned to portraying other roles apart from being America's sweetheart.
Now, Rachel McAdams will reportedly play a challenging role as Stephen Strange lover?
While it has yet to be confirmed, Vanity Fair claimed McAdams will most likely going to portray the role of Clea, the equally magical love interest of Doctor Strange.
"Though there has been no official confirmation from Marvel, the likeliest character for McAdams is a magically gifted woman named Clea, which means not only would McAdams be romancing Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange, she would also match the Sorcerer Supreme mystical gesture for mystical gesture," the publication claimed.
Vanity Fair also noted that if not Clea, Rachel McAdams could play the role of Night Nurse from the 2006 limited series, "The Oath," or Morgana Blessing, Strange's long-time lover, who was first introduced in 1981.
Without revealing her role in the film, "The Notebook" star confirmed her involvement in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" with Benedict Cumberbatch at the Toronto International Film Festival, Comic Book Resources reported.
"I'm gonna go do 'Doctor Strange' [for] Marvel, kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic, yeah, with Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm really looking forward to that," she revealed.
With the cast almost complete and the release date set next year, "Doctor Strange" will reportedy begin shooting in London and New York, Kevin Feige confirmed to MTV
In addition to Rachel McAdams and Benedict Cumberbatch, Variety exclusively reported "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen has also been tapped in the lineup as "Doctor Strange's" villain.
"'Hannibal' star Mads Mikkelsen is in early talks to play one of the villains in Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' oppositeBenedict Cumberbatch, Variety has learned exclusively. While sources say no offer has been delivered, one is expected shortly. Marvel had no comment on Mikkelsen's involvement."
Meanwhile, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also said to be included in the cast with Swinton playing Strange's mentor, while Ejiofor will take on the role of Baron Mordo.
"The actress is negotiations to portray the Ancient One, the Tibetan mystic who is a mentor to Dr. Strange," Variety claimed.
Excited with his new role, Benedict Cumberbatch said that "Doctor Strange" will open Marvel Cinematic Universe's "multiple dimensions."
"I'm very excited to be taking on 'Doctor Strange' for Marvel," he said in his video footage addressed to fans, Screen Rant reported.
Adding, "He's an extraordinary character and brings in a whole other dimension... hmmm... MULTIPLE dimensions to the Marvel universe."
"Doctor Strange" release date is scheduled on Nov. 4, 2016.
