UFC Women's Bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is set to defend her title in her next fight against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November in what she feels is a Wrestlemania-type event.
"I thought - that's as big as a whole Wrestlemania. I'll have to sell it all by myself," Rousey told UFC Tonight, as quoted by Fight Line.
As the website noted, the fight marks the first time UFC sets foot in Melbourne, Australia. It is also expected to shatter sales and attendance records. Still, the champ is up to the challenge.
"That's a tall order. It's great that the UFC has confidence we can set the record. It's a testament to how far women's MMA has come. It's going to be great to set the record."
But Ronda Rousey's next fight against Holly Holm isn't without controversy. After making quick work of Bethe Correia at UFC 190, "Rowdy" was expected to face Miesha Tate for a third time. Tate's latest victory against Jessica Eye officially put her in the number one contender's spot, according to Yahoo! Sports.
UFC president Dana White has reportedly apologized to Tate but she's still pissed over the switch.
"I'm very frustrated with the UFC," Tate told Ground and Pound TV (via Uproxx).
"I'm not in a position where I feel like I need to be pushed around and, 'Oh, you take this fight, take that fight.' It makes no sense to me why I'm not the champion and yet I'm fighting all the No. 1 contenders."
Per the website, the UFC planned on having the 29-year-old fight Amanda Nunes but she declined.
"I'm not the champion and I'm fighting better girls than the champion is fighting, and I'm not getting paid what the champion is getting paid," Tate said noting that Holm is ranked No. 8 while Nunes is No. 4.
"That is the champion's job, to fight the best girls in the world. When I'm champion, we'll talk," she added.
In the meantime, Ronda Rousey's next fight will be against undefeated former boxer Holly Holm at UFC 193 at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium.
