Jimmy Fallon's finger injury made the news some time in July and since then, the internet has been educated about ring avulsion, a trauma to the finger caused by sudden force which pulls the ring and the tissues, tendons, skin and even bone of the finger that on which the ring is worn.
Two months after Jimmy Fallon's injury news, the host shared on Twitter an update on his recovery.
Asked by a follower on how his finger is doing, the "Tonight Show" host replied positively.
"Looking good," Fallon tweeted on Aug. 27. "I got the pin out today,"
Jimmy Fallon had to take a two-week hiatus due to his finger injury. During his absence, the host tweeted a photo of his injured hand.
"Tripped and caught my fall (good thing)! Ring caught on side of table almost ripped my finger off (bad thing)," Fallon explained.
During Jimmy Fallon's return on "The Tonight Show," the late night host recounted the story behind the accident, in which he blamed his wife's kitchen rug.
"I tripped and fell in my kitchen on a braided rug that my wife loves and I can't wait 'til I burn it to the ground," Fallon said. "And I tripped and fell and I caught my fall and I'm getting up and my finger's sideways."
Despite the horrible injury, Fallon managed to react humorously.
"So I go: 'Oh my god, did I just break my finger? This is the lamest thing in the whole world!'" Fallon exclaimed. "It completely looks fake, like in a cheap horror movie, where you see a broken finger? It looks like that."
He later on thanked his doctor, who performed a 6-hour microsurgery to save his ring finger.
"Awesome doctor, comes in with a bow tie and cowboy boots," Fallon said. "That's my doctor! That's my guy -I knew it when he walked in."
