Success Of 'Terminator Genisys' In China Brings Sequel To Reality? Plot Details Discussed!

| By

While "Terminator Genisys" did not do well in U.S., its success in China has reportedly ensured the film's sequel.

According to Variety, Arnold Schwazenegger's cyrborg-themed film earned a whopping $27.4 during its opening in China, which now brings a $335.1 million income to the movie.

The film's success in the international scene reportedly sealed the deal for the sequel, which release date will reportedly fall in 2017, Screen Rant confirmed.

Jai Courtney, who played the role of Kyle Reese, even discussed possible plot twist for the sequel.

Apparently, the hero who saved Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) in "Terminator Genysis" might become the sequel's next bad guy.

"I would normally kind of dance around that, but when you can be sort of unforgivingly nasty, it's fun," he said about being a villain in an interview with Screenrant . "It's tougher to play a good guy."

And while his statement seemed to be a hint to what fans should expect in "Terminator Genisys" sequel, Courtney insisted that he still has no knowledge about the film's plot.

"I don't know," he said. "Look. That stuff's a long way away. I know there are people who know exactly where they want this to go from a narrative point of view."

"But yeah, look," he added. "Who knows? We'll wait and see. And if we're back doing this soon, then I'll be stoked."

"I think the nods to the early movies," Courtney continued. "There's some cheeky little recreations, like shot for shot stuff of a couple little sequences which I think fans will get a kick out of."

He did however reveal what direction the sequel is aiming to.

"Also, the way we kind of destroy everything that they know about it at the same time and that's the direction we're taking it in," he also said.

"There's choices that, perhaps, are sacrilege within this, but I think it provides potential for really sort of juicy plot from this point on," the actor concluded.

Meanwhile, "Terminator Genisys" director Aaron Taylor previously discussed the possibility of a new trilogy to Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie franchise.

"It was always there as a kind of gateway - to further developments it's precisely a kind of, 'it's not over yet' moment. On the one hand, it's one of the things that points to there being further chapters. On the other hand, this is a kind of franchise where I don't think anybody really believes that you're going to end up neatly or happily. So, when our heroes drive off into the sunset and we think, well that went well. There's still going to be a nagging feeling that wait, it's not that easy."
