Amir Khan Has Bigger Priority Other Than Winning In His Next Fight; Find Out What It Is

| By

Amir Khan's next fight is probably against Manny Pacquiao.

There were talks that the British boxer is eyeing his former sparring mate under Freddie Roach as his next opponent. Although he is excited to face an elite level boxer, he sees this only as a way to get to another more prominent name - Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd, who recently won against Andre Berto for his 49th win and match Rocky Marciano's 45-year old record, has just announced his retirement from the sport.

However, like many other boxing fans, Amir Khan is skeptic about Pretty Boy stepping away from boxing. Amir Khan thinks Floyd will return and his planned fight against Manny Pacquiao is good stepping stone to get to him.

"I think Manny Pacquiao would be the priority because I don't know how long he has got left in his career, I think he would be the first fight to take," Amir Khan said of his probable next fight in an interview with BoxingScene.com.

"Manny P was probably number two pound-for-pound so by fighting him and beating him, it might get me to be the number one pound for pound fighter and then you get someone like Floyd Mayweather who might say I will come out of retirement and fight him-imagine that."

Amir Khan's next fight is said to be against Manny Pacquiao. Nothing is concrete yet but both camps are positive a deal will be made.

"Hopefully a Manny Pacquiao fight," Khan told News Day recently.

"A Pacquiao fight is something I would love to have. I think it can happen. That would be a huge fight. With his fan base and my fan base, that's a huge international fight. Obviously we both want to fight, right now it's up to the promoters."

Manny Pacquiao's promoter and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is also excited about deal with Amir Khan with their match expected to take place next year.

"If Manny fights Khan, Khan will probably bring 3,000 or 4,000 people over from the U.K. for the fight," Arum said according to a report by ESPN.
