The next "Gotham" season 2 episode, titled "Knock, Knock", will deal with Arkham Asylum inmates and released to the public.
This group is composed of the most dangerous mental health patients who will leave no stones unturned to make life in the city miserable both for GCPD and ordinary citizens.
While this new villains are interesting in their own rights, fans should not forget that the show's old villains are still there. So far, only Robin Lord Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot is making a good case of himself.
Det. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) better watch out though because there is one person close to him who will slowly embrace the dark side. Even Taylor himself is excited to see this unfold.
"Well, my main man Corey Michael Smith as Edward Nygma," Nygma told Newsarama when asked which villain he is excited about.
"I just love what they did the character in the first season in that it was very, very slow. You got to see the seeds of madness that were planted there. That just really comes to the forefront in season two. I find Corey to be a very inspiring person to work with and I'm just thrilled to see him embrace the character. Yeah, that's who I am most excited to see."
"Gotham" season 2 episode one is the introduction of new villains and one of those who aroused audience's curiosity is Cameron Monaghan's Jerome who is advertised (or not) as the Joker. While everyone is skeptic about this character, Taylor assures Jerome's storyline will be explosive.
"I think everybody is going to be thrilled, including myself to see how that progresses," he said on the same interview.
Oswald Cobblepot's reign as the king of Gotham's criminal world will be met by a lot of challenges. This might also include the famous villainous group Court of Owls.
Series creator confirmed to Comicbook.com that Court of Owls is already understudy for the show.
"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can't just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once," he explained.
"The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne's journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won't tell you when."
