Set for an October release, Psyonix announced a new "Rocket League" DLC that is sure to bring an old school vibe to the hit football-racing hybrid game for the PC and PlayStation 4.
"Revenge of the Battle-Cars," which the studio described as a "new-but-old-school" DLC, should bring familiar additions to the game for players familiar with "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars."
For the uninitiated, "SARPBC" is actually the predecessor of "Rocket League" which was launched for the PlayStation 3 back in 2008. That game also featured the same addictive gameplay its sequel is widely known for.
Leading the upcoming DLC are classic "SARPBC" battle-cars Scarab and Zippy. Also included in the update are new decals (six for each car), paint types, wheels, toppers, rocket boosts and antennas.
"The new DLC pack will also feature new trophies for the game on PlayStation 4 and new achievements for it on Steam," according to Tech Times.
But that's not all, the "Rocket League" DLC will also bring new variations to Urban Station (Night) and Utopia Coliseum (Dusk) via a free update regardless of purchasing the DLC or not.
"These variants are the last 'regulation-style' maps you'll see for a while, by the way, as our next few arenas after that will focus on more 'unusual' layouts and settings (more on those later this year)," Psyonix said.
As usual, there will be other freebies as well which include new music, Country and Community flags and customary updates and customizations for the game.
This upcoming DLC pack follows 1.05 patch that came out just last week, according to PC Gamer.
Per the studio, the "Revenge of the Battle-Cars" DLC pack is still undergoing Sony's certification process but it should arrive by October. Players can purchase the DLC for $3.99 on Steam by then.
